Anyone that has ever started a Facebook page, Youtube channel or Twitch stream knows the struggle to boost viewership. There is no magic formula to make your page go viral. Most people realize this early on. There is a massive gap between going viral and just sitting with your content week after week. I do know of one tried and true method to boost viewership and anyone can do it.
Network. Building a network online has it’s own challenges, yet with those challenges there are also things that are made easier by good habits and sharing.
Build habits around promoting your favorite content. The main challenge is getting noticed. Your page is in a sea of pages on a virtually infinite expanse. The only way to be noticed is to find pages, channels and streams that you enjoy and become an advocate for them. If you can get featured there, you will certainly draw viewers by plugging your content. Over time, these big fish will notice you.
Routinely share content about people you enjoy. This is something that is worthwhile for everyone involved. People notice when you support them. It is also a great way for people to notice that popular content and then see your page and potentially check it out. Be creative, try to find ways to add value to other peoples work and your own.
In the service industry, the best way to grow naturally is to create cheerleaders. Do this by giving them such a good service that they spread the word about you far and wide. Connecting the two things, have content available that your favorite content providers can enjoy, follow those people and share their content regularly, and make it extremely clear how to access your page. When those content providers or influencers see your stuff, they will hopefully be converted into a cheerleader for you.
Start small. There is a real gap between you and those influencers. To bridge this gap you need to begin small. Go to smaller, new, content makers. Share their information far and wide everyday. Never share something without quality checking it first. When you share for them, ask them to share for you. Do this until you build up enough of a platform to be noticed. Thankfully, with technology you have access to an endless supply of makers and influencers. Embed references to your favorite channels in your own content, learn from them and have fun finding ways to market your content and network.
TLDR: Network by frequently going to influencer type content makers and those with a smaller reputation. Share for them until they notice you and be ready with good stuff that they will want to share.
